Adult Categories

Competitors sixteen (16) years to nineteen (19) years may choose to compete in Youth or Adult categories (see the age chart above). Adults compete in Recreational, Experienced and Open; occasionally there is a Masters category (45 years and older). Recreational competitors are often climbing up to 5.9/V1. Experienced competitors are often climbing 5.9+ to 5.11+/V2 to V4. At times, Recreational and Experienced categories will be combined into Recreational.

The Open category is reserved for elite athletes that are sixteen (16) years of age or older, or 14 years of age and have competed on a Canadian National Team, and have the written permission of the CEC.

Competitors may not compete in two different categories at the same event.
