The 7 directors on the OCF board each serve a 2-year term, overlapping such that each spring 3 or 4 of the directors’ terms expire. New directors are elected each spring at the Annual General Meeting, usually held in conjunction with one of the Provincial Championship competitions.

Gillian is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CA, CPA) with over 20 years of experience in both public practice and industry. Since 2003, she has specialized in the area of corporate governance, developing a range of educational initiatives and resources for corporate directors in public, private and not for profit organizations. Gillian has been involved in climbing since 2011 when her three children starting competing as members of the True North climbing team. She has experience as a judge at OCF youth competitions and as an ISO monitor at both OCF competitions and a recent World Cup event.
Malek Taleb – OCF Vice-Chair (Term ends May 31, 2019) firstname.lastname@example.org
Malek has been working in the climbing industry since 2001. In 2011, he purchased the Boiler Room Climbing Gym in Kingston and established a youth and an adult competitive team. Malek has been taking part in competitions since 2003 as a competitor, coach, setter and organizer. Since 2014, Malek has represented Canada as team manager of the Bouldering National Team at more than 10 Bouldering World Cup events.

Tyler has been working in the climbing industry since 2011 as a gym manager, routesetter, coach, and event organizer at Climber’s Rock. He has had the privilege of travelling around the world to visit other gyms, attend competitions and take part in clinics with world-class route setters and coaches. Having witnessed the explosive growth of the sport first-hand, Tyler’s focus is on creating new competitions that cater to specific audiences, ensuring a better competition experience for everyone. His first project was a bouldering competition for pre-competitive youth called Pebble Pull, and Tyler hopes to help the OCF improve Ontario’s capacity by implementing similar ideas province-wide.
Shaun Hunter – Secretary (Term ends May 31, 2019) firstname.lastname@example.org
Shaun started working in the climbing industry in 2005 at Toronto Climbing Academy where he began instructing youth in the recreational programs. In 2010 he moved to True North Climbing where he created the youth recreational program and competitive youth team which he is the head coach for, he later became the head route setter in 2013. In the competition scene, he has been involved countless times as a route setter, comp organizer, problem judge, and as an open competitor. In 2017 Shaun was selected to be an Assistant Coach for the Canadian Youth National Team. Shaun also represented Canada at 4 World Cups in the 2015 season. As a route setter he has helped set over 25 competitions from the provincial to the national level.
Lorraine was in the Insurance and Reinsurance business for over 18 years. She became involved in the climbing world when her daughter started climbing competitively in the 2010-2011 season. Lorraine joined the board in February of 2012 and was secretary from November 2012 until June 2014. She has been the volunteer coordinator for the past 2 seasons– 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. Lorraine was the volunteer coordinator for the IFSC World Cup Bouldering Events in 2013, 2014 and 2015. She has been an ISO monitor for many OCF locals, CEC Nationals and the World Cup events.
Lisa has spent the last 16+ years working in software implementation in the financial industry. She has Board-level experience in the not-for profit sector, as both a Program Coordinator and Hosting Coordinator for CISV (Children’s International Summer Villages), a global organization which promotes peace through inter-cultural, international exchange and camp programs in several countries. Lisa is an active judge at OCF youth competitions. Lisa is a recreational climber and the mother of recreational and competitive youth climbers. She is a resident of Waterloo, ON.
Kellen Tapley – Tour Director/Technical Delegate (term ends May 31, 2018)
Kellen started working in the climbing industry in 2009 at Coyote Rock Gym in Ottawa. There, he created and managed the youth recreational and competitive programs and later became the head route setter. In the competition scene, he has been involved countless times as a route setter, comp organizer, problem judge or head judge and as an open competitor. As a route setter he has helped set over 30 competitions and has put up problems at a half dozen gyms across Ontario and Quebec. He currently works at True North Climbing as the youth recreational program director, youth team assistant coach and route setter.

The board meets approximately once a month to conduct the business of the organization. Meetings will be announced in advance on the OCF web site, and minutes posted there as soon as practicable after each meeting. Any member of the OCF is welcome to contact any board member at any time to discuss what the organization is doing, to provide feedback or to express concerns.
